AirAsia restores Ahmedabad and Amritsar–Kuala Lumpur flights
AirAsia resumes two India–Malaysia routes from October and December 2026, opening opportunities for family, group and corporate travel.

AirAsia announced on 5 October 2026 that its Kuala Lumpur services to Ahmedabad will return from 25 October and to Amritsar from 2 December. Each route is scheduled four times weekly. Tourism Malaysia reports more than 1.5 million Indian visitor arrivals in 2025, placing India among Malaysia’s five leading international source markets. Its recent trade outreach also encourages travel beyond Kuala Lumpur and Genting, including Langkawi, Penang, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak. Tourism Malaysia recorded 738,709 Indian visitor arrivals in January–June 2026, down 8.5% year-on-year. India remains a major source market; the restored routes create a specific sales opportunity rather than evidence of current market-wide growth.
What this means for your Malaysia programme
Hari-Hari’s planning suggestion is to develop separate proposals for Gujarat and Punjab. For Ahmedabad agents, explore family groups, premium independent travel, incentives and Malaysia–Singapore combinations. For Amritsar agents, consider multi-generation private holidays, groups and Langkawi extensions. These are product ideas to validate with local partners, not confirmed demand forecasts. Prepare confidential agent quotations before 25 October, with transport, hotel standards, meals, guides and cancellation terms clearly specified.

- 5D4N Kuala Lumpur + Genting: a compact city and highland programme for private or leisure groups.
- 7D6N Kuala Lumpur + Langkawi or Penang: choose island relaxation or heritage and food experiences.
- 7–9D Malaysia + Singapore: customise the route and check Singapore entry requirements and border-transfer timings separately.
- Indian travel agents: request confidential net rates and Malaysia ground handling for Gujarat and Punjab groups, with hotels, guides and private or group transport.
- Specify Indian or vegetarian meal requirements in advance; menus, kitchen arrangements and availability require confirmation.
- Prepare separate MICE/incentive and destination-wedding proposals, with venue sourcing, accommodation, guest transfers and event requirements assessed before quotation.
- Educational groups: tailor museums, cultural visits and learning activities to student ages. Contact Hari-Hari with dates, group size and budget.

Malaysian Immigration currently lists visa exemption for Indian nationals until 31 December 2026, subject to applicable entry requirements. Check the official rules for each traveller and travel date; Singapore has separate requirements. Itineraries are proposals, not priced offers. Reconfirm flight schedules, seats and ground arrangements before booking.
